Only contributions presented at the SOFT2026 conference in the form of talk or poster will be considered for publication.

The participants opting for full Open Access in the Fusion Engineering and Design should cover all related Open Access expenses, since the Registration Fee does not cover those.

• The paper submission deadline for the Fusion Engineering and Design journal is set on the 16^th of November 2026.
• Please note that there will be no further extensions.
• The entire submission and review process will be handled electronically using the Fusion Engineering and Design Editorial Manager.
• There is no specific template nor page limit for the submitted paper.

All corresponding authors of the papers accepted for the SOFT 2026 conference which select to publish in Fusion Engineering and Design have to do an extra registration to this electronic editorial system that differs from the SOFT 2026 system.

To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the SOFT 2026 special issue, please note:

• The journal’s submission platform (Editorial Manager®) will be available for receiving submissions to this special issue from 28/09/2026.
• Please refer to the Guide for Authors to prepare your manuscript, and select the article type of “VSI: SOFT 2026” when submitting your manuscript online, and select “Rudolf Neu” as the Requested Editor.

The submitting authors are kindly asked to use the “comments” box to introduce the SOFT contribution number received upon submission of their abstract.

Please note that submitting authors may be requested to review one or two conference papers submitted by other authors.
