34th Symposium on Fusion Technology

Aix-en-Provence, France • From September 21 to 25, 2026

Welcome to SOFT 2026 – Aix-en-Provence, France

We are delighted to announce that the 34th Symposium on Fusion Technology (SOFT 2026) will take place in the beautiful city of Aix-en-Provence, France, from 20 to 25 September 2026.

Organized by the Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research (IRFM) of CEA, home to the WEST tokamak, the event also benefits from its close proximity to the ITER project.

Building on the remarkable momentum of recent years, the fusion community continues to achieve outstanding scientific and technological progress. More than ever, researchers, engineers and technologists are demonstrating how international collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential to overcoming the key challenges on the path to electricity-producing fusion power.

SOFT 2026 will once again bring together the global fusion community — scientists, engineers, industry representatives, and exhibitors — to share the latest results and breakthroughs across all areas of fusion technology. The conference will include invited talks, oral and poster presentations, and a large industry and technology exhibition. It will offer a unique opportunity for teams working on fusion experiments, test facilities, component development, materials science, and high-level design studies to meet, exchange ideas, and move forward together.

The city of Aix-en-Provence, known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant atmosphere, will provide an inspiring setting for this major international event.

We look forward to welcoming you to SOFT 2026 in Aix-en-Provence.
